Only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars…
It is no secret that our country has been ravaged by flood this past month, with the worst hit area being the Lockyer Valley, near Toowoomba, Queensland. On 10 January, 2011, the region was devastated as the now infamous “Wall Of Water” tore through the valley, taking with it the possessions and lives of many families, and leaving a path of destruction in its wake. The death toll currently stands at 22 with 3 loved ones still missing. The legacy left by this tragedy will be felt for many generations to come.
There are many examples of fundraising efforts being made to assist those who have been affected by the floods, and all of these efforts are to be commended. The Constellations Project, is unique though, as we hope, it will be a far reaching, and permanent reminder of the events of January 10, 2011.
The end product will be a beautiful, glossy 2011/2012 financial year calendar, to be distributed nationally. ALL proceeds from the sale of the calendars will go directly towards assisting the communities of Grantham, Postman’s Ridge and surrounding areas, much of which was completely wiped out when the “Wall of Water” struck.
The calendar will be a source of hope, and a memorial to the lives lost, as well as a piece of treasured, collectable memorabilia that may be kept in years to come.
